Parador Melilla
The Parador Melilla is located on a hill, from which the walled town and the extensive beaches surrounding it can be seen. Rising up over a small valley in the upper part of the Lobera park, this building, bathed in the North African sun, enjoys a quiet position thanks to its private gardens and refreshing swimming pool. The comfortable facilities are elegant in their simplicity of decoration, and the bedrooms have panoramic views from their terraces.

Melilla , located in the north of Africa, was founded over 500 years ago. It is bathed by the waters of the Mediterranean, and is known as a modern and enterprising city. After Barcelona, and Madrid – it is considered the city in Spain with the most modernist architecture. It has scores of Art Deco and modernist buildings.
Melilla has a wonderful mix of different cultural communities. Christians, Muslims, Jews and Hindus share this city, while still maintaining their own cultural identities. Because of this, Melilla is a place of incredible contrasts, and the diversity enriches the city’s streets and squares.
In terms of cuisine, as a Mediterranean city, Melilla has preserved the Spanish traditions of tapas, good wine and cool beer. However, what is most outstanding about Melilla’s cuisine is what reflects this cultural blending, with flavors from a combination of Andalusia, Arab and Jewish cuisines.
While Melilla is indeed Europe’s closest city to the desert, the sea is the protagonist every day of the year, making it possible to enjoy any number of water activities in the surrounding area.
To really soak up the wealth of this city, there is no better place to stay than the Parador Melilla.
From the Parador there are many possible excursions on foot, such as a visit to the completely refurbished 16th-century fortress, which was the old city; the Museo Hospital del Rey (King’s Hospital Museum) "Chafarinas and its rooms in writings and photography"; the Museum of Melilla, with its display of photographs, Phoenician coins and archeological finds, etc.; the Military History Museum; and of course, a visit to the markets and handicraft shops. This summer there is a temporary exhibition entitled Piracy in the Mediterranean, open until 5 September.
Another visit highly recommend is to the Conventico Caves (where the inhabitants took refuge in times of war), located in the Cruz Wall.
