Parador Sos del Rey Catolico
The Parador Sos Del Rey Catolico (official name is Parador Fernando De Aragon) is very nice, comfortable in all respects, and perfectly situated to explore the old town on foot. The little town of Sos is very old, and stills retains the medieval feel. It is very laid-back and is off the main tourist track – which is a shame because the town has been declared a national monument.

The Parador Sos makes a great place to stay for folks who are attending the festival of San Fermin (the famous running of the bulls) in Pamplona. Since that is pretty much a non-stop party, and accommodations are often difficult to get during the feria – Sos makes for a tranquil get-away only about a 45 min. drive away.
Of interest to visitors is the 11th-century San Esteban Parish Church, near the ruins of the castle. The walls, which were built later, surround the village, mixing with the houses built right up against them. The key spot is La Fuente Alta Tower, also known as La Reina. Not to be missed is a visit to the Benedictine Monastery of San Salvador de Leyre, near Sos, where you can hear the singing of the monks, and Javier Castle, birthplace of Saint Francis Xavier.
