The Monforte De Lemos Parador is a recent addition to the Parador chain. It’s a completely refurbished 17th century Benedictine Monastery. The rooms are situated around a marvelous central cloister, and many have fine views out over the city and countryside below.

The area around Monforte was settled by the Celts long before the age of medieval Christendom. Here on the heights of a ‘mountain’ they built a great fortress – and thus the name it still goes by. The Romans came later and established gold and silver mines nearby.
