Parador Ferrol
The Parador Ferrol is a stately mansion with a maritime air. It sits near the water in the centre of the city of Ferrol, an attractive, seafaring city. It has unique glazed galleries and a singular marine setting. The decoration both interior and exterior displays nautical elements; world maps and navigational instruments in the common rooms and spaces - anchors and ship parts outside.
The main staircase has an ancient lamp from a boat and the maritime motifs abound in the living rooms. The bedrooms are spacious, and some have wonderful views from their balconies - out over the historically famous port.
The restaurant at the Parador Ferrol is justifiably famous for the wide and varied list of exquisite seafood and Galician cooking it offers. Some of the most representative dishes are 'pulpo a la mugardesa' (octopus with potatoes), 'rape a la coruņesa' (Coruņa style monkfish) and 'sopa ferrolana' (seafood soup). The typical cake from Ferrol justly heads the dessert menu.
